Lego problem

Yesterday was another fun day in homeschooling! We had a bit of delay in the day because I'm starting to make Lapbooks. So we saw this Lego lapbook and ofcourse being the Lego fan that Lukey is he got so excited. I told him that this was for fun time not part of our lesson plans and that we would do this after our studies. He was so upset after that but we went back to our learning.

Lukey is getting so much of what I am teaching. We even started a new math game where he writes down the problems on the giant dry erase board and pretends he's the teacher...he does such a good job with this. I'm so proud of him! He's so good at it ~ he might just grow up to be a teacher! How wonderful would that be :)

I need to start living more peaceful with myself. I feel now that we're homeschooling we have to get out and socialize more but to tell you the truth, I hate socializing. I love my son and husband but when I try to go out and make friends it becomes quite a huge disapointment. I have not met anyone lately that I feel I have anything in common with or that I have any kind of click with. I will just put it in God's hands and surrender all of my issues. I am usually a very happy go lucky kind of gal but lately I've been so angry at myself and at my poor husband. Please God be with me and give me peace! Peace be with you all :)

Adventures in Homeschooling!!

This is our third week of homeschooling. I believe we are finally getting into the groove of things. I am trying to find out all that Lukey, my son has learned in public school and so far, I am rather disappointed. He is in the 4th grade and I'm wondering how he got so far not knowing how to write letters and numbers the right way. So therefore I am beginning with the basics. Handwriting, mathematics and reading. He is an excellent reader though which I knew all about but the teachers would complain because he never liked to read outloud.

I love homeschooling and feel that this is what I was meant to do. I love to teach and to teach my own child is a dream come true!! He is now at a perfect age where he will actually sit and listen. This is also wonderful because I am learning as well!! We are in VA so I am following the SOL guidelines. Our social studies guidelines are that we must learn about Virginia which seems a little self absorbed of a curicullum. I actually dislike VA quite a bit but the more I learn the more interesting it becomes. For instance, George Washington, the father of our country actually was born right down the road in Wakefield. And he was here in Suffolk, discovered the Dismal Swamp. We also learned about Thomas Jefferson and all the good things he did instead of me thinking he was just a slave owner who had children with his slaves, he actually considered himself one of the common folk and helped establish the Louisiana Purchase from Napolean! The Virginia history is so rich. Who would have guessed??

Chillin this summer!

Today we actually went out of the house to run some errands. This summer has been so wonderful and relaxing. I have the best life where I can just lounge about all day spending time on Cafemom or reading or playing Nancy Drew games. I thank God each and every day for my most blessed life. Anyhoo, so we went out to the library so I could pick up my bookclub books which I couldnt find. One is a Christopher Moore book which I'm not so sure I want to read. He seems a little bizarre, I just dont get into the vampire thing. Then we went to the store to pick up some bomb pops for Lukey.

So far this summer we have seen two movies, Toy Story 3 which was okay but a little creepy and Dispecable Me which was alot better than I thought it was going to be. I love movies! The other day my hubby fixed my laptop! I havent been this happy in forever! I even found the Plus! Windows 98 themes download and have my fav, the jungle on my puter. My life is complete :)
